Why certify these products?

A piece of security equipment is a passive protection element right up until the moment of an attack. When that happens, it has to deliver its full performance in line with its classification, even years after installation. That quality and durability over time is not visible to the client at the point of purchase, so they cannot objectively judge whether the equipment chosen will stand up to the risk involved. The official certificate is therefore an important factual measure and a reference framework, giving the user the assurance of appropriate protection, matched to the type and degree of risk or violence involved.

This certification, the result of many years of work and research by international working groups made up of manufacturers, users, technicians, consultants and representatives of state services, guarantees not only the sample put through testing, but also that every product coming off the production line meets the established performance level. Random checks are therefore also carried out from time to time in the plants.

The standards we work to

Transfer devices are tested for their resistance (the reference standards for testing are the European standards in force, recognised in most countries worldwide)

Three criteria come into play: the duration of the attack, the equipment - the tool and/or weapon used, and the distance of the attack.

Vandalism

(EN356)
The glazing withstands thrown objects and deliberate damage without giving way.

Break-in

The glazing delays intrusion under repeated attack with an axe or hammer.

Armed attack

(EN1522/1063)
The glazing and frames protect people and property against gunfire.

Fire

The glazing holds back flames and smoke to allow time to evacuate.
